This custom light fixture, featured in El Encuentro, serves as the project’s signature, culturally rooted design element. Constructed from green ebony wooden beads and cotton macramé cord, the fixture highlights the use of natural, locally relevant materials. Green ebony was selected for its durability, sustainability, and native presence in the Dominican Republic, as well as its rich olive‑brown tone that complements diverse interior settings.

Inspired by the concept of confluence, the fixture incorporates circular forms and spherical beads, visually reinforcing the rounded banquette seating below and anchoring the space as a focal point for gathering. The piece will be commissioned from master artisan Don Bernardo of Altos de Chavón, whose family has practiced weaving for three generations. Through this collaboration and the thoughtful use of natural materials, the fixture embodies a convergence of culture, craftsmanship, and community.
