The Hill Hotel + Social Club

BIRMINGHAM, AL

In collaboration with architecture students, we were tasked with revitalizing Birmingham’s historic Continental Gin Complex, located within “The District.” Rooted in Avondale, this historic site is envisioned as a living framework where past and present coexist through a shared value of time. Built on the principles of the Fifteen-Minute City, the site supports daily life within a walkable radius, providing residents and visitors with efficient access to their needs while fostering connection to the greater Avondale community. At the same time, it honors the area’s historical identity by preserving its architectural fabric and layered sense of place ultimately preserving time, both past and present. Positioned at the forefront of the site is The Hill Hotel and Social Club, serving as a central anchor that brings together hospitality, wellness, and community.

Established as a place where historic spaces and modern experiences come together, The Hill Hotel and Social Club brings locals and travelers under one roof where wellness, hospitality, and culture meet. Just as the buildings on this site once connected different industries and paths, The Hill now connects people from all walks of life, providing a place to restore, reflect, and reawaken historic spaces through daily life and shared experiences.
